Police are now checking out the house next door to the property where Jaycee Lee Dugard was held for 18 years as they continue their investigation into the kidnap case. Ms. Dugard was abducted at age 11 allegedly by Philip Garrido who reportedly took care of the house next door before moving into it the current residence that the investigation is centered. Currently, Garrido and his wife Nancy deny all 29 charges in connection with the kidnap case
Mr. Garrido is believed to have fathered Ms Dugard’s two children, the first when she was just 14. She is believed to have been living in tents and sheds in the backyard of the Garridos’ Antioch home for 18 years.
Yellow crime scene tape now also surrounds the next-door property, which neighbors say has been the home of Damon Robinson for the past three years. Mr. Robinson had earlier told the Associated Press news agency that Mr. Garrido used to act as a caretaker for the property until 2006. Neighbors told AP he used to visit and help the previous elderly resident.

‘Like robots’
Jaycee Lee was bundled into a car outside her home in 1991 in South Lake Tahoe, 200 miles (320km) from Antioch. Her identity was rediscovered last week, after Mr. Garrido was ordered to a parole meeting by police officers whose suspicions had been aroused by the behavior of two girls with him.
The two officers, Lisa Campbell and Ally Jacobs, met Mr. Garrido on Tuesday as he sought to hold a religious meeting on the grounds of the University of California at Berkeley, where the officers work.

Officer Jacobs said something about the girls, aged 11 and 15, alarmed them. “I think Lisa asked, ‘do you guys go to school?’ and they both, like robots, [said] ‘we’re home schooled’.”
The officer said they noticed the girls were “extremely pale in comparison” to Mr. Garrido, and have “penetratingly blue eyes and I just had a weird uneasy feeling”. The officers said Mr. Garrido had told them of his previous rape and abduction convictions but he said he had turned his life around.
They reported their concerns to his parole officer and Mr. Garrido was ordered to report to his office. The Garridos attended with the girls and a woman called Allissa, whose identity was then revealed as Ms Dugard.
Held without bail
Police have apologized for missing an opportunity in November 2006 to find Ms Dugard. An officer visited the Garrido home when a neighbor – reportedly the then-girlfriend of Mr. Robinson – alerted them to suspicious behavior there. But the officer only spoke to Mr. Garrido and did not enter his property to carry out a search. Police are now searching the Garrido home for clues to a number of prostitute murders in the 1990s.
Mr. Garrido worked near an industrial park were several bodies in unsolved murders were dumped. Police are investigating him in connection with these murders as well while he and his wife were being held without bail. A court hearing has been scheduled for September 14 to hear evidence in the case on. Presently, Ms. Dugard was reunited with her mother, Terri Probyn, while she and her children are stay at a motel near San Francisco.

My Take: This is simply unbelievable! I mean, how can someone keep another person on his or her property without anybody knowing it? How could the neighbors not hear the kids playing? This is just a sign that our society is losing its community efforts. 100 years ago people paid attention to what was going on in their neighborhoods and would help a neighbor in need.
Now, when a neighbor starts having problems, the window shades get drawn and the doors could shut and locked because the people inside do not want to get involved. Maybe if somebody had gotten involved sooner, this woman would not have been put through so much terror for such a long time.
I am a firm believer that anybody who rapes someone should be put to death because they have stolen a life. In this case, he should not only be castrated with a dull knife, but he should be hung by the thing between his legs until he is dead! I say this because he probably has raped the children that she produced from the rapes. As for his wife, she should get the death penalty as well for allowing it and then keeping the secret. I will never be able to understand how a woman can participate, in any way, in the rape and torture of another woman or child.
What makes this even worse is that they actually have pled not guilty! Do these people actually think they’re going to get away with this? Maybe they are going for an insanity plea it is the only explanation.
